DIY: Newspaper clutch

De aquellos tiempos en los que el gentleman llevaba el periódico bajo el brazo quedan reminiscencias que se han convertido en clutch. Nunca el New York Times (salvando las distancias) fue tan fashion.

Reminiscences still remain from that time when gentleman used to carry the daily newspaper under the arm. They have turned into a clutch! Right now the New York Times is more fashionable than ever.




Desde el blog I spy DIY nos proponen un DIY tan sencillo que es digno de ser dado en las clases de plástica del colegio (que levante la mano quien no las haya usado alguna vez el pegamento Flokyl). ¿Los materiales? Un clutch baratillo (esta blogger nos propone uno de H&M por menos de 20 euros), periódico y un pegamento especial que, en este caso, se seca rápido y tiene acabado en mate.

Thanks to the blog I spy DIY we can make an easy DIY. The materials? A cheap clutch (like this from H&m) and special glue with a mate finish.

Se trabaja el clutch por partes: se recortan partes coincidentes con el bolso en el periódico y se pegan una vez dado el pegamento con una brocha. Cuando se tiene el clutch cubierto, se dan varias capas de pegamento para protegerlo (atención al acabado).

We must work with the clutch in sections: cut similar parts of the newspaper and glue them with a paintbrush. Then, apply several layers of glue on the surface in order to protect the clutch.

¿Hay vida más allá de Chanel, Lanvin o Balenciaga en cuanto a bolsos se refiere? La respuesta es una chica de San Diego cuya pasión por la moda la llevó a Nueva York para convertir su sueño en realidad, Rebecca Minkoff.

Sus comienzos se centraron en prendas, y aunque sigue lanzando líneas de ropa, su especialidad sin lugar a dudas son los bolsos de cuero, por los que han sucumbido, según recoge en su página, celebrities como Keira Knightley, Ashley Green o Lauren Conrad. A su complemento fetiche también han caído rendidas bloggers de renombre como Stylescrapbook o Song of Style, cuyo clutch de leopardo repujado es una maravilla.

Is there any bag beyond Chanel, Lanvin or Balenciaga? The answer is a girl from San Diego whose passion for fashion makes her moving to New York in order to turn her dream come true, Rebecca Minkoff.

Her beginning was focused on clothes, but her speciality is with no doubt luxury leather bags, which, according to her website, have fallen in love with celebrities like Keira Knightley, Ashley Green or Lauren Conrad. A fetich complement that has turned into a basic of bloggers closet such as Style Scrapbook or Song of Style (her clutch of a cheetah print is a wonder).

Os dejo con una selección de sus últimos bolsos, que rondan en torno a los 200 y los 700 $. ¿Mi favorito? El azul empolvado con tachuelas, muy valentino. // Here´s a little selection of her last bag collection, with a 200-700 $ price range. My fav is the pale blue with studs, very valentino;)

Hay lookbooks que se limitan a enseñar ropa. Y otros lookbooks, que yendo mucho más allá, consiguen la atracción de quien lo mira hasta enamorarlo, como es el caso de Rabens Saloner s/s 2011. Paisajes bucólicos y fotografías muy bien cuidadas. Echadle un vistazo a otros lookbooks suyos porque son una preciosidad.

Paris-Bombay

Cuando la India era todavía colonia británica, los europeos quedaron embaucados por el fausto y la solemnidad de la corte que rodeaba a dinastías ancestrales. Tejidos de ricos bordados y opulentas joyas representaban la ostentación que tanto admiraban las damas victorianas de la época.

Aprovechando esta fascinación por la cultura oriental, Karl Lagerfeld ha hilado entre los pliegues de su colección Chanel pre-fall 2012 el espíritu de la antigua Joya de la Corona. Los metales se vuelven preciosos mezclándose con perlas y materiales como el tweed o la seda. Las joyas o los guantes, estampados con prints que imitan los tatuajes de henna, evocan la pompa de una novia a punto de casarse con su rajá. La colección Paris-Bombay es un delicado sueño convertido en realidad.

When India was still a British colony, Europeans got seduced by the magnificence of the court that surrounded those ancestral dinasties. Fabrics with rich embroidery and opulent jewelry showed the so admired ostentation of the Victorian ladies of the epoque.

Taking advantage of this fascination of the oriental culture, Karl Lagerfeld has sewed in his new Chanel pre-fall 2012 collection the spirit of the Crown Jewel of the British empire. Metals are mixed with pearls and materials such as tweed or silk. Jewelry or even gloves, printed like henna tattoos, evoke the pomp of a bride who is getting married with her rajah.

Anyway, the Chanel Paris-Bombay collection is a delicate dream come true.
